Underwater

I’ve made those two new paintings that I’m really proud of, “Deepwater Horizon” and “Tell me all you know”. You will probably notice the muted colour palette that makes the delicate ink work stand out much more. I don’t really know why it’s taken me so long to finally put those ideas into action, yet I’m amazingly relieved to no longer be buried underneath thousands of layers of thick paint. It’s like I can suddenly breathe again, and that is such a good feeling.

For all those who are waiting for my print edition, I am very sorry my shop’s still empty right now. There’ve been a couple of problems with the printing company, however, most of them have been solved now and I’ll probably get to see my test prints in one or two weeks. I’ll post an update as soon as I’ve got more information on the final release date. In the meantime, I’m considering putting up some of my smaller and cheaper originals, so you might want to check back every once in a while. :)

Have a good Sunday everybody.

The soup I feed my children

Wow, the scanning process for this was really difficult. I’ve been working with a 0.03mm ink pen to achieve the ultra-fine face shading, however, as smooth as it looks, it’s pretty hard to reproduce now. I’m still planning to turn this into a limited print edition, so keep your fingers crossed for my test printing results next week. And thanks to all the lovely people who’ve helped me decide on which picture to print. If this doesn’t come out the way I imagine it, all your suggestions will of course be considered. :)

For the record

Just a short update on this sketch. It’s in fact the first kid I’ve ever drawn, which felt sort of weird considering the proportions are so different and the head really isn’t too big when you think it is. I’m just happy it came out so adorable that I’m a bit worried I can’t come up with another sweetheart for the right side of the picture (where there’s actually space for one more). I totally have no idea how to put ink on this either because the face details are really tiny in the original but oh well, I’ll manage. :)

The things I imagine

A new picture has been started… I have some grand ideas for this, it’s been on my mind for some time. Let’s see if it comes out the way I’m imagining it.
